- Vibes: We have entered our last week of full summer programming here at Smuggs. The calendar says end of August, but when I walked out the door this morning, I could have sworn it was September. There is that touch of fall crisp to the air, something that has always enticed me to get out and explore. So, dial up a hike, a bike, or any adventure that feeds exploration.

Looking Ahead
- Tomorrow is Kids’ Night Out in FunZone 2.0. Sign up today to let your kids play and eat in the FunZone while you get an evening to yourselves. Dinner at the Hearth & Candle or Morse Mountain Grille without having to be concerned about that glass of milk spilling or whether or not someone ate enough vegetables sounds like a nice time to me.
- Wednesday is the weekly Mount Mansfield hike. Join our hiking guides as they take you on one of the ultimate Vermont adventures to the state’s highest elevation at 4,393 feet. With a prominence of 3,633 feet, Mansfield shoots up from the surrounding area more greatly than some of the 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado. Mountain prominence measures how much a mountain stands out from the surrounding terrain. Technically, it is the vertical distance between the summit and the lowest contour line encircling the mountain and no higher summit. It shows how “independent” a mountain is compared to others around it. A peak with high prominence usually appears more dominant in the landscape. The weather looks perfect for hiking tomorrow, too, so don’t miss out on the best 360-degree view in the Green Mountains.
