Farmer’s Markets & Fun on the Horizon
A Vibrant Return to the Jeffersonville Farmer’s Market!
There’s something so quintessential about a farmer’s market in Vermont. This week, under the watchful eyes of hand-painted silo murals, the town of Jeffersonville welcomed the first farmer’s market of the summer season… and the town turned out in force! Neighbors were catching up, sharing plans for the upcoming school vacation. Kids were darting between picnic tables, dust clinging to their bare, sweaty ankles. The scent of wood-fired pizza, kimchi stuffed dumplings, and Canadian wildfire smoke drifted through the hazy June air. The community gathered on blankets and benches, savoring the moment as much as the food. It was sticky. It was sandy. It was perfect.
Our local vendors turned out too—tables bursting with various organic goods, handmade crafts, wildflower bouquets, and sandwiches so good, they’d make you howl. Each booth told a story, and behind every one stood a neighbor: someone you’ve seen at Hanley’s, sat next to on the Sterling lift, or in line at school pick-up. This isn’t just a market—it’s a community gathering.
If you happened to miss the first set, encores will routinely happen 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm every Wednesday from now through the fall—same place, same time. So bring your friends, your families, and your reusable totes. Come hungry. Come curious. Come be part of what makes our little corner of the Notch so incredibly special.

Stay Sun Safe This Summer at Smugglers’ Notch!
With the start of summer upon us and everyone spending more time outdoors, now’s the perfect moment to restock your sunscreen and practice smart sun safety. Here are some tips to keep you cool and protected while enjoying the sun:
Re-Up on Sunscreen
- Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.
- Reapply every two hours—or more often if you’re swimming or sweating.
Dress for the Heat
- Choose light-colored, loose-fitting clothes with long sleeves when possible.
- A wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses offer great extra protection.
Beat the Peak Heat
- Avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours (10:00 am – 4:00 pm).
- Take breaks in shaded areas or head indoors for some cool A/C relief.
Cool Your Core
- Jump in the pool or a lake to cool down.
- Stay hydrated and listen to your body—heat exhaustion is no joke.
Let’s all enjoy the sunshine safely this season!
